Three of NSW Largest Councils Select Bang the Table

Sydney, 31 May, 2010 – Online community engagement specialist, Bang the Table, has today announced that they have signed contracts to provide its online engagement solution Engagement HQ™ to Gosford, Penrith and Newcastle City Councils. All three are among the largest 20 councils in NSW and collectively serve a population of half a million people.

According to Matthew Crozier, Director at Bang the Table, councils are progressively embracing online tools as a key element of community engagement practices.

“We are delighted that these high profile councils have chosen Engagement HQ™ as their preferred way to engage their community online. We are pleased to say that we now host and moderate consultations for 23 Councils across NSW including six of the twenty largest.

“With the addition of Newcastle, Gosford and Penrith, Bang the Table will have brought online community engagement services to some two million New South Wales citizens through our local government contracts over the past two and a half years. That’s close to one third of the State’s population. That is something we are immensely proud of.”

Gosford Council has recently launched their community engagement site which they will use to host a number of community consultations over the next 12 months to help make decisions about policy directions, and service delivery that directly affects the community.

According to Gary Chestnut at Gosford Council, the council is particularly interested in widely consulting the community to ensure their involvement in developing plans for the region’s future.

“Our success as a council is defined by our ability to reflect the needs and wishes of those within our community, both now and in the future. A critical component to this process is to define what the vision for our community actually is. By using the Bang the Table tools, we can cost effectively reach the widest range of people in our community and get their input into the direction we take.”
