Accessibility Principles

Bang the Table develops web-based community consultation tools that improve the accessibility of busy people everywhere to public policy decision making processes. We believe that in order to be consistent with this objective it is important to ensure access for people without access to the latest hardware or software, with a physical disability, or with little experience using the internet. With this in mind we have developed the following principles to guide the development of all of our products.

Accessibility

Bang the Table products will:

  1. Produce valid XHTML and CSS because using standard, interoperable markup and stylesheets offers a much greater chance of having our software handled consistently across platforms and user agents.
  2. Be structured to enable conformance with Level A of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG2) as a minimum with the aim of Level AAA conformance wherever possible.
  3. Be tested by a third party accessibility auditor.
  4. When we have concluded a conformance evaluation, we will include an easily accessible page disclosing the accessibility barriers and a timetable for resolution of those barriers or an alternative method for overcoming these.
