
It seems that Ning may be about to end their free service. This will be a real shame for all the community groups and others who have come to rely on the platform and I think is an interesting business strategy given the existence of quality competitors in this segment of the market, SocialGo for example.
Ning note that 75% of their traffic comes to paid networks but surely this ignores the evolution of those networks. I stand to be corrected but I would imagine that fledgling networks will look to set up for free. Many will fail but those that prosper might graduate to a paid plan.
I wonder if Ning have just killed their business pipeline.
