Bega Valley Shire Council launched its latest online consultation yesterday. They are asking their community to talk about introducing smoke free outdoor areas.
Council have put two questions to community. First, “do you agree that Council should restrict smoking in outdoor areas” and second, “do you agree with all of areas included in the draft policy“:
- Smoking within ten (10) metres of all Bega Valley Shire Council designated children’s playground equipment.
- Smoking within ten (10) metres of any entrance and all areas within any Bega Valley Shire Council buildings (including public halls, toilets, sports centres, depots, airport terminals, public wharves and jetties, waste facilities or the like).
- Smoking in all alfresco dining areas under license agreement with Bega Valley Shire Council.
- At all events outdoor organised or sponsored by Council or held on land under Council control;
- On all beaches, including non surf beaches;
- On all playing fields, sporting grounds and sporting facilities (ie swimming pools, outdoor sports centres) and the like.
