Wendy Sarkissian blogs about Bang the Table

Legend of international community engagement practice, Dr Wendy Sarkissian, has been kind enough to blog about little old us on her blog, Kitchen Table Sustainability.

I am very happy to return the favour and recommend three books Wendy has been working on feverishly over the past two years. All are published by Earthscan, and the trilogy represents a giant leap forward in the theory and practice of community engagement and sustainability. The links will take you straight to Amazon to make it as easy as can be to snap one (or all three) up.

Creative Community Planning is the latest and final member of the trilogy.

Kitchen Table Sustainability is for people who want to play an active role in developing sustainable communities. This book bridges this gap and takes sustainability and community development out of the ivory towers of universities, government departments and planners to the kitchen tables of the world.

Speakout introduces and explains in exhaustive detail, an innovative, interactive drop-in process with some of the qualities of an Open House and a participatory workshop. It provides hands-on, step-by-step guidance, detailed checklists and practical advice on how to manage community engagement processes, as well as advice on facilitation and recording and training of helpers.
