Community Heritage Wiki

I received a social media release today about a Community Heritage Wiki called Now and Then

I have been somewhat critical of wikis as community engagement tools for mass engagement but this seems to be a superb use of the tool, a fantastic collaboration project and a really interesting site.

Any community can set up a page to document its local history. This could become a mine of information over the years.

The site has started with the community of Mallala in SA which I had never heard of until today but I am now thinking is a pretty interesting place.

  1. Cheers Matt
Here in Mallala, we are all very excited with the launch of the new wiki site, which we hope will continue to grow over coming months. And yes, Mallala is a pretty interesting place.

  2. Hi Matt – thanks for these kind words. We at the Collections Council (project manager) are thrilled with the way this community heritage wiki has taken shape. I am deeply impressed by the enthusiasm and energy of the Mallala Museum team.
