A consultation has just commenced on the Bang the Table website where the ACT Chief Minister’s Office is asking the community about how they like to engage, including online methodologies.
I think this will be an interesting one to watch. Generally speaking ‘how should we engage you’ is not the sort of issue with grass roots angst attached that we would expect a massive response from but it is a great opportunity for people to indicate if they do want to be engaged more and if they feel strongly that a change of methodology towards more convenient online engagement is warranted.
A similar exercise we ran in New Zealand for the Government there yielded a few interesting comments. This one was not broadcast to the general population but instead community engagement professionals were invited to participate. They were exhibiting a new strategy and the response was pretty positive hence the low number of comments.
Although I am sure it has been done before, this ACT project is the first time I have seen an attempt online to get the population involved in answering how they want to be engaged.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a passionate response!
